St Bede’s RC Primary School in Bedlington raised more than £230 for Cancer Research UK as part of the charity’s latest Britain’s Biggest Breakfast event.

The Ridge Terrace primary’s school hall was full from 8am until the start of lessons as staff served a Continental -style breakfast to the children and their parents.

Deputy headteacher Theresa Worrall said: “I am so proud of the children, parents and staff for their part in this fundraising for a very worthy charity.”

The charity breakfast coincided with the school’s celebration of this year’s World Book Day, so some staff and pupils dressed up as characters from their favourite books.

The annual breakfast event, is now in its 17th year.
