An optician in Morpeth is bristling with pride as he takes part in an annual male fundraiser.
Peter Myers, a dispensing assistant at Specsavers in the town, is aiming to raise hundreds of pounds as he takes part in Movember, which aims to raise awareness of men’s health issues.
Movember, which takes place throughout November, sees moustaches grown to raise awareness of health issues, including prostate cancer and other male cancers, and their associated charities.
Peter, who has been at Specsavers for the last 12 months, said he wanted to do something as the cause was very close to his heart.
The 34-year-old, who has already raised hundreds of pounds, said: “Like many people, I have friends and family whose lives have been touched by cancer – either as victims or relatives of sufferers.
“I wanted to do something positive this year so decided to go for it. I’m not entirely sure what style of moustache I’ve grown but I can’t thank people enough for all their generosity so far in pledging money.”
Anyone who would like to support Peter with donations can do so by visiting his pledge site at www.mobro.co/petemyers4
Specsavers is aiming to raise more than £100,000 during November as male staff put their best top lips forward during the month in an effort to create hirsute wonders.
