A Cramlington fitness business is stepping into the national spotlight as it features in a Small Biz 100 campaign.
These Girls Can Run has been chosen as one of 100 enterprises around the country to be celebrated by Small Business Saturday in its free promotional and marketing initiative.
The business aims to break down some of the barriers that prevent women from exercising by providing beginner, female-only, running groups.
It has developed friendly and welcoming sessions, specially designed so that there is something for everyone.
The business has recently branched out to launch These Guys Can Run, a male-only running group for exercise in a non-competitive and social environment.
It will now be among the select enterprises to be featured by the campaign in the 100 days leading up to Small Business Saturday itself on December 3.
Founder Kim Scott said: “Having had my own journey from overweight and unfit to marathon runner I understand the emotions and fear of judgement which goes hand in hand with starting a new exercise.
“It is through my own experiences that I can ensure we deliver sessions in such a way that people are welcomed, supported and able to realise their own potential at their own pace.
“These Girls Can Run has achieved fantastic success in just 16 months, but I do not wish to rest on my laurels. My vision is for everyone to have access to a group and for the groups to expand nationally.”
