A HOST of top businesses from across the county will battle it out for a series of prestigious awards tonight at the fifth annual Northumberland Business Awards.
The judging for this year’s awards took place last week, with the panel made up of a mix of public and private sector professionals.
Events organiser Lisa Aynsley said: “This year’s level of entries was exceptional, and particularly encouraging given our current economic climate.
“We had a record number of entries and there are some businesses that are really doing exceptionally well. It was extremely difficult to pick the winners.”
Mark Dowdall, environment and community director at the Banks Group, which was represented on the judging panel, added: “As a major local employer with a proud record of operating successfully in Northumberland for more than three decades, The Banks Group is extremely pleased to be supporting these awards.
“Our support for the initiative’s
Green Business of the Year category fits perfectly with our ‘development with care’ approach, which puts responsible business practices and the wider environment at the centre of everything we do.”
Organised by Northeast Press, publisher of the News Post Leader, the event will see businesses from across the region battle it out for prizes in 12 categories, including best business start-up, using local suppliers, training, entrepreneurship, business in the community, technology, environmental awareness, export, apprenticeships, and tourism, at a black-tie dinner at Linden Hall Hotel in Longhorsley, near Morpeth, tonight.
A supplement including all the winners will be in next week’s News Post Leader.
