Company gets industry award

A CRAMLINGTON company has received the UK’s top business award in recognition of its exceptional performance.

Advanced Electronics Ltd, which specialises in fire detection and life-safety equipment, received the Queen’s Award for enterprise after growing into an £11m business since starting in 1999.

Exports from the company reach both global and UK markets, with sales growing to over 300 per cent during the last three years.

The company’s major investment into research and development for technically advanced products meet regulatory standards, and now representss 45 per cent of the annual takeover of the firm.

Managing director Ray Hope told the News Post Leader: “The Queen’s Award is a mark of excellence and represents a very important milestone for us on our journey towards our long term goal to be a leading global player in the design and production of intelligent fire detection and safety control systems.

“Our highly skilled and dedicated workforce deserves this kind of accolade.

“I am particularly proud of the fact that we have achieved this status in the highly competitive electronics manufacturing industry.”

Sales director at Advanced Electronics, Ian Thompson, said: “It confirms to our customers that we are recognised as an outstanding business that continuously develops and provides world class service levels and delivery models to meet the demands of international markets.”

The award will be presented to the Advanced Electronics directors by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant at the International Firex 2011 event.
