A tyre specialist business in south east Northumberland has been raising money for a national charity.

A special event at Stakeford Tyre Services in Eastview was part of the nationwide ‘100 years of adventure’ roadshow, organised by tyre manufacturer, General Tire, which is celebrating its centenary in 2015.

The fundraiser was in aid of the Children’s Air Ambulance, the only dedicated national helicopter service that transports critically ill children across the UK.

Dave Kane, from Stakeford Tyre Services, said: “We had a fabulous day that was enjoyed by both staff and customers.

“I’m really proud to support the Children’s Air Ambulance. It does amazing work and it’s really satisfying to know that our contribution will help it continue to do what it does.”

Tracy Grunwell, national partnership manager for the Children’s Air Ambulance, said: “On behalf of everyone at the Children’s Air Ambulance, I’d like to thank Stakeford Tyre Services and General Tire for its support.

“This money will be put to great use and to put it into perspective, £20 could pay for 1,200 litres of oxygen to be carried on board the Children’s Air Ambulance, helping critically ill children to breathe.”

On the day, to raise money and awareness of the charity, there was a fully branded Land Rover Discovery.

Raffle tickets were sold offering people the chance of winning either an Apple Watch, a Land Rover driving experience, or a family day out.
