Grants on offer for electric car charging

BUSINESSES are being encouraged to take advantage of a 100 per cent grant to help grow the electric car charging point network in Northumberland.

The scheme is being run by Charge your Car, the north east’s Plugged in Places scheme, which aims to install 1,000 charging points by next year.

Project manager Josey Wardle said: “Although there has been a significant number of charging points already installed in Northumberland, the county is behind other parts of the region.

“We have introduced this revised funding offer to encourage more businesses to plug into the network, boosting their green credentials and saving money.”

To qualify, hosts are required to provide free electricity for EV charging for three years, provide a free parking space and access to the charging point, as well as agreeing to maintain the equipment for at least five years.
