A rapidly growing developer, manager and contract manufacturer from the county has picked up a top accolade.
Blyth-based Tharsus took home the Exporter of the Year Award, sponsored by the Port of Blyth, at this year’s Northumberland Business Awards.
In the last three years, Tharsus’ approach has led to securing contracts with a FTSE 250 company for a new robotic system.
Each year the company grows by 20 per cent and exports 40 per cent of its business abroad.
Chief executive Brian Palmer said: “I am delighted that we have won. We have a great group of staff and they work hard.
“We have 180 people working in Blyth, and we export about 40 per cent of our output. We have some really exciting plans for the future.”
Judges chose the company because it had established ‘impressive markets overseas in a specialist area’.
Port of Blyth chief executive Martin Lawlor, which sponsored the award, added: “As one of the major international gateways for trade, it is important to celebrate export excellence in the region.”
Also nominated were Mayborn Group, MPS (Europe) Ltd, and EDynamix Global Ltd.
