AN ASHINGTON specialist pet shop is bucking the economic downturn by opening a new shop in Cramlington.
Animal Tracks has opened a new outlet Cramlington’s Azure Garden Centre and taken on more staff.
The two stores are owned and managed by animal lovers and long term partners Jason Seymour and Helen Edwards, from Bedlington.
“It has been a brilliant move for us. We started life in a garden centre but our new store at Azure is much bigger and much, much better,” said Jason.
“In our first two months we have already quadrupled turnover and taken on two staff. We will be looking for more over the coming months.”
At 3,500sq ft of indoor and outdoor space, the new Animal Tracks store has ample room to show off its stunning collection of beautifully-kept reptiles, insects and tropical and coldwater fish, as well as accessories.
Go Wansbeck Enterprise Coach Karl McCracken, who helped provide support to the duo, said: “The success of Jason and Helen’s business is due to their contagious enthusiasm, rigorous attention to welfare for all their animals, and training their staff to the highest standards.
“I’m sure their new concession at Azure will be a great success and create even more much-needed jobs at this difficult time. That’s always our aim at Go Wansbeck.”
