A Cramlington company director has won a top regional award at a prize-giving ceremony.

The Institute of Directors North East named Stewart McNicholl, the managing director of an independent asbestos compliance consultancy, as the region’s leading Young Director.

The IoD North East enlisted the expertise of business advisory firm Deloitte to conduct research to identify young directors aged 42 and under who are contributing significantly to the economic well-being of the region.

And Stewart, who is managing director of AMS Asbestos Management Services Ltd, in Cramlington, took the leading prize.

The company delivers UKAS accredited asbestos surveying, testing, analysis, project management, consultancy and training nationally and overseas across a wide variety of business sectors.

Stewart’s contribution to the company’s success has been to build a great senior team, innovate and integrate new business systems to improve efficiencies, quality and delivery, keep the company ahead of its competitors, win new business and ensure the staff are engaged, developed and aligned with his mission.

At the award ceremony, Graham Robb, IoD North East chairman, said: “Stewart McNicholl was selected because he totally epitomises what the North East Young Director is all about – an outstanding dynamic and successful entrepreneur whose company is having a significant positive impact on the economic fabric of the region.”
