Supermarket chain opens new branch

A SUPERMARKET giant is opening a new store in Cramlington on Monday, employing 52 people.

Morrisons has taken over the former Somerfield premises in the Brockwell Centre.

The new store will be the Bradford-based chain’s 460th nationwide.

Shoppers are invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony taking place at 9am.

The store’s general manager, David Gray, said: “Over the past few weeks, the team have been working night and day to ensure that customers enjoy shopping, Morrisons-style, from day one.

“Opening the doors and welcoming the shoppers of Cramlington will be the reward for all the training and preparation.”
