OLYMPIC hero Kelly Holmes has been offering inspiration to staff at a south east Northumberland factory.
More than 400 workers at Procter and Gamble’s manufacturing plant at Seaton Delaval were given a talk by Dame Kelly, pictured, at the site’s annual business update.
Ian Potts, human resources manager at the company’s Seaton Delaval site, said: “As P&G is a worldwide partner of the London 2012 Olympic Games, it was a perfect fit for Dame Kelly to come and speak to our employees, encouraging them to be the best that they can be.”
The theme of her talk was inspiring excellence and Dame Kelly did not disappoint as she told of her journey from watching the 1992 Barcelona Olympics in her barracks as an army sergeant to winning two gold medals at the 2004 Athens Olympics at the age of 35.
One employee, Tracey Wales, said: “It was fantastic that Dame Kelly was able to apply her success in the sporting world to our business world.”
This was Dame Kelly’s second visit to one of P&G’s north east sites in a matter of months as she was at its Cobalt Park office in North Shields in May to give a similar talk.
