The firm, which last year exceeded £1m in turnover, took home the Training Award at the Northumberland Business Awards, sponsored by the News Post Leader.

The company pipped Thrills and Skills For Life, NSE Ltd and Age Concern to the post to take home the accolade.

The business, based in Ashington, is helping to ensure traditional skills like cutting, embroidery and machining are surviving, and worked with Northumberland College to create bespoke Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships in textiles.

Director Kate Dawson said: “I am over the moon to win this award.

“We realised that people develop at different paces and require different methods of learning, that could be audible, kinetic, or visual.

“It’s been great to see how everybody has responded and for some, even the most experienced, it’s quite new.

“We’re delighted that our approach has been recognised.

“There were a lot of doubters when we started out, but I hope we’ve silenced them now.”

The company was also shortlisted in the Apprentice Ambassador category.
