Businesses are being urged to take advantage of financial support on offer after £11.75m was awarded to the county by the government.
Arch, The Northumberland Development Company, in conjunction with Northumberland County Council, were awarded the money from the government’s Regional Growth Fund (RGF).
It will be used to deliver a programme to provide support to businesses across the county to encourage the creation of new sustainable jobs and to safeguard existing jobs.
The programme was launched in April last year and is open to applications from businesses located or planning to locate in Northumberland.
Peter McIntyre, Arch Group managing director said: “This funding is making a real difference enabling companies to invest and grow and the Northumberland economy will benefit as associated new job opportunities are created.
“It has kick-started developments in areas such as the Blyth Enterprise Zone, attracted new businesses to the county and helped local businesses to grow.
“The balance of funds, £5m, needs to be awarded in the next six months or so, so I would urge any businesses currently in or planning to locate to Northumberland to enhance their performance and grow to get in touch with our RGF team as soon as possible.”
