A STUDENT who took part in a leadership conference in America has thanked one group who helped make his dream a reality.
King Edward VI pupil Calum Thompson was among the few who secured a rare and prestigious place at the Global Leadership Programme Conference.
Calum had set about securing the necessary funding to attend the event, with one organisation willing to help being Morpeth Lions Club.
And the teenager attended the club’s November meeting to thank them for their support and give a talk on his experiences in America, which also included an element of sight-seeing in Washington and New York.
On his second day at the conference, Calum – who had been allocated to represent India – volunteered to give his first speech, working hard to get the country’s point of view across.
Calum told the club that the event had altered his views on a future career and he could possibly continue his studies abroad.
