Staff and residents of a care home are pledging their support to one of the country’s largest charities.

Astor Court and Astor Lodge View in Cramlington will open their doors on Friday, September 26, to take part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Care manager Mandy Mackley said: “At some point in our lives each and every one of us will be touched by cancer, it’s a terrifying disease with devastating effects.

“We have lost family and friends here at Astor Court and it is through events such as the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning which raise vital funds to help find a cure.

“The staff and residents here have chosen to take part in this fundraising event to not only show our support for Macmillan, but to also remember the loved ones that we have lost.”

Held within both homes, the Astor complex will be welcoming guests from 10am for refreshments and a selection of home baking, cooked up by the catering team, staff and family members.

There will also be the opportunity to raise additional funds by taking part in the raffle, games and by making donations for the refreshments on offer.
