Carers celebrated in awards ceremony

Home carers from south east Northumberland were recognised for their work and dedication by Age UK Northumberland at an awards ceremony last week.

The event, held at the Roundhouse in Ashington, had an audience that spanned nearly one hundred years difference in age,

Ellington First School choir and the Mayor of Ashington attended; along with a number of service users including 102-year-old Mr Roland Sladden, who nominated Jackie Wood for her award for Quality, sponsored by the Morpeth Herald.

Mr Sladden from Ellington relies on Jackie to assist with his daily routines, including looking after the birds in his garden, which enhance his life.

Elizabeth received a bouquet of flowers courtesy of J Robinson Florists for her care of 52-year-old Wendy Sanderson.

Wendy’s mum Pat Sanderson nominated Elizabeth for the exceptional care she provides to her daughter.
