A new face has been appointed to lead Blyth’s newest hotel.

Multi-award winning pub operator The Inn Collection Group has appointed Catherine Bellhouse as general manager of The Commissioner’s Quay Inn.

The £4.5million inn will feature 40-bedrooms and is due to open on Quay Road in July, ahead of the arrival of the Tall Ships Regatta in August.

Mrs Bellhouse has almost three decades of hospitality and leisure experience, beginning her career with Hilton Hotels & Resorts on the Isle of Man then at the brand’s Nottingham hotel, moving to operations manager of the Copthorne Hotel in Newcastle, then for the Pizza Express chain.

She said: “I’m excited to be joining an operator as highly regarded as The Inn Collection Group and to be leading the new Commissioners Quay Inn.

“It is a tremendous opportunity and one I am looking forward to embracing.

“My inherent desire is to put The Commissioners Quay Inn on the map for the quality of its customer service. Giving people a truly great experience – whether they are staying, eating or drinking with us – is at the top of my agenda.”

Mrs Bellhouse will be overseeing the recruitment of 35 staff, including appointments to the key roles of head chef, head housekeeper and assistant managers, as well as front of house, bar, housekeeping, maintenance and kitchen positions.

The waterfront inn will be open 365 days a year, providing accommodation and serving food and drink from breakfast through to 9pm.

The Inn Collection Group’s operations director Sean Donkin said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming someone of Catherine’s calibre and ambition to the helm of The Commissioners Quay Inn.

“She has some great ideas for the inn and her customer-first vision is an exact match to our ethos here at The Inn Collection Group.”

The Commissioners Quay Inn is being built by Arch, The Northumberland Development Company, across four floors with superb coastal views from its quayside location.

As well as proving the perfect spot to view the Tall Ships at Blyth, it will fill a gap in the market for quality and affordable accommodation in the area.
