A famous face came along to open a new salon and training academy in Blyth town centre.

The event gave people the opportunity to find out more about Blush, set-up by Debbi Gess, make appointments and sign up to the VIP section where the £50 annual membership gives you special offers and discounts each month.

The guest of honour was Vicky Pattison. She is best known for appearing in the MTV show Geordie Shore and winning the 15th series of I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in December 2015.

A full range of beauty treatments are provided by the team of four at the salon in Bowes Street and the training courses are suitable for all those working in and interested in joining the industry.

Debbi, who has won national and regional awards and is an international educator for the Crystal Nails brand, asked the celebrity to open the facility as she has been doing her nails for five years.

She said: “I was really stressed on Saturday morning with getting everything ready, but the day went really well and I’m delighted with the level of interest.

“Vicky spoke to many of the people who came along and she wished me well.

“We’re passionate about giving our customers the best quality treatments, using products they can trust, and ensuring everyone at the academy gets a top class education.

“I would like to thank my boyfriend and family for their support in renovating the building from scratch.”

The 32-year-old initially worked for an advertising agency, but after having her first son she decided to go into beauty therapy. The Blyth resident worked at three salons before setting up her own mobile business three years ago.

She then worked from home and her career development also included passing a series of tough exams and assessments to become an international educator.

“The success of the business and growth of training courses I was offering meant it made sense to get a building to offer both in the same location,” she added.
