A team of accountants from Procter and Gamble has been weeding and planting against the clock as part of a charity gardening challenge.

More than 30 employees from the general accounting department at P&G’s Cobalt site volunteered a day of their time last week to help transform a site at Wansbeck General Hospital, planting raised flower beds and creating a wild flower area which will benefit patients, visitors and local residents.

It was organised to support local charity Groundwork North East and Cumbria, which works to deliver environmental regeneration projects in areas of need across the region.

P&G accountant Jonathan Hunter said: “This is the third time we have worked with Groundwork and it is fantastic because challenges like this one are great for team-building – everyone really rolls their sleeves up and gets stuck in to get the work finished in time.”
