Ashington’s newest family pub restaurant is now ready for business following an intensive six-month build.

The Old Ash Dene opened its doors this week. The multi-million pound development, which is part of Marston’s Inns and Taverns Generous George concept, is located at the entrance to Wansbeck Business Park.

It offers a large choice of main meals, such as selections from George’s Chicken Shack, Burgers and Bagels, a Pizza Paradise Kitchen and Magnificent Mains.

An ice-cream parlour offers a variety of toppings and sauces for customers to create their own sundae.

The drinks options feature hand-crafted ales, draught wine chilled to perfection and available by the glass or to share with friends and a range of soft drinks.

More than 45 jobs were created as a result of the development and, with the pub restaurant’s build now complete, the team is looking forward to welcoming locals through its doors.

Manager Jacqui Miller said: “The Generous George format offers something for all the family – it is something we are really proud of – and to have an amazing team on board already is the icing on the cake.”

Oliver Devine, head of marketing at Marston’s, said: “Generous George is all about making sure customers have a great time when they visit, so it’s important to provide a friendly, warm service and a wide choice of great value food and drinks.”
