A south east Northumberland community is making the last minute preparations for an annual fair taking place over the bank holiday weekend.
St Bartholomew’s Church in Newbiggin will host its annual flower festival on the weekend of August 24 to 26.
And this year’s theme will be ‘God is Garden’.
Entries for the Village Show in the Church Centre will be taken from 2pm to 3pm on Friday, August 23, and from 7.30am until 10.30am on the Saturday. Judging will take place at 11am.
There are a number of classes open for the show including vegetable, cake, arts and crafts, flowers, photography and a children’s section, which will be on the theme of ‘Don’t be a litter bug’.
And this year will see the introduction of fly fishing in the adults’ section.
A spokesperson for the church said: “It was so popular in the children’s section that we have decided to have a separate class open to adults.”
Viewing times for the Village Show will be from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday and 1pm to 3.30pm on Sunday.
On Sunday, August 25, services in church include the parish communion at 9.30am and a festival evensong at 6.30pm.
On the Bank Holiday Monday the church will hold ‘the fair’ in the Church Centre from 11am to 2pm with a variety of stalls and sale of produce.
Viewing times for the flower festival will be on Saturday from 10am to 4pm, Sunday noon to 4pm, and 11am to 4pm on Monday.
The following weekend, Saturday, August 31, events draw to a close with the grand prize draw at noon in the Church Centre.
