A NORTH Tyneside club has raised more than £1,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society by holding a series of meat draws.

Marden Estate Residents’ Club in North Shields has handed over a cheque for £1,300 to the North Tyneside branch of the charity.

That brings the club’s total donations to the society over the last three years to more than £6,000.

The money was raised by ticket sales for weekly meat raffles held at the club.

Club stewardess Bernie Rutherford said: “The meat draw for the Multiple Sclerosis Society is great because it shows how brilliant the customers are to give so generously week after week for such a good cause.

“Just think how much money could be raised if every club in the area did the same.”
