I WOULD like to thank the committee and staff of East Hartford Social Club for being generous hosts to the Northumberland and District Deaf Club for the past ten years.
The social club has brought the deaf community of Northumberland, both young and old, together on a Thursday evening and we thank them for their support.
It is with great regret that the social club has had to close, however, we have spoken to Cramlington Village Social Club and they have generously offered us the use of their facilities commencing June 14 at 7pm.
Our club has a long history and is the only one in the Northumberland area.
We welcome those that are deaf, disabled, hard of hearing or hearing who may wish to learn sign language, to join us for socialising or just a chat in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
The club provides information in interpreted talks, social activities, meetings, trips out to various places of interest.
We have regular visits from local charities, councillors, police, fire and health service guests who assist members with dealing with everyday problems.
To all our members, both current and past, I hope we will have your continued support, and once again I extend a thanks the both East Hartford and Cramlington Village Social clubs, who without their support Northumberland’s only deaf club would be closed.
