In reference to the article about Cramlington Town Council’s decision to ban cockerels from allotments (News Post Leader, July 9), I moved to East Hartford about 18 months ago.
We were attracted by the peaceful environment and the greenery.
We had moved from a similar location overlooking allotments which had cockerels, so this was perfect.
Our house is directly in front of the allotment and we hear the cockerel regularly. We love it. Why are we continually sanitising our environment? What’s next – shooting garden birds to stop the dawn chorus?
I love living here and the cockerels represent the community I am part of. Why can’t councils see the bigger picture?
