An offshore engineering company has announced plans to set up a new base at the Port of Blyth.

Engineering company TSG Marine has announced a partnership with the Port that will see the high-tech marine and offshore business create a base for their services.

The firm, which provides innovative engineering solutions to the oil & gas, marine and renewables industries, had been looking for a waterside base to support its expansion plans in the north east.

Allan Syme, managing director of TSG Marine, said: “The north east currently has a real opportunity to establish itself as a key cost effective player in terms of specialist port facilities.

“At TSG Marine, we recognise that the best way to realise that opportunity is to partner with the local infrastructure which offers access to a number of high-quality fabricators and other specialist support companies.”

Martin Lawlor, chief executive of Port of Blyth, said: “Welcoming a company as in-demand as TSG Marine to the Port of Blyth is another great milestone in our development as an offshore energy supply base. The infrastructure, partnerships and environment we’re building here is a formula for growth.”
