A SEATON Delaval building company is giving a new community radio station a helping hand to get on the airwaves.

CW Davis Ltd, which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year, is converting a former gas showroom in Bedlington into a professional grade studio to allow the South East Northumberland Radio Group (SNRG) to start broadcasting in the next few months.

The firm heard that SNRG had been awarded £3,000 funding from the Bernicia housing association and agreed to match the sum by providing labour and materials for the work.

SNRG chairman Colin Heathcote said: “We are indebted to the company’s director David Brown and quantity surveyor David Storey for their enthusiastic help and support for our venture.

“The company’s commitment to what we are trying to achieve has been a huge morale boost to the group.”
