A public meeting will take place in Newbiggin next week to discuss the key issues facing the town.
Northumberland County Council leader Grant Davey and deputy leader Dave Ledger have been invited to attend and state everything that they consider the local authority is doing for the town and answer questions from residents.
It will be held on Wednesday, November 16, from 7pm at the Community Activity Centre, Gibson Street. It will be chaired by Hilton Dawson, secretary of the North East Party and a former Labour MP, who grew up in the town.
He said: “I sincerely hope that Grant and Dave will be able to attend and take part in what is intended to be a wholly constructive and positive meeting for Newbiggin.
“There are a vast range of issues in Newbiggin at the moment, but the absolute key concern appears to be that the town is not receiving anything like the level of investment from the council and its development company Arch.
“Presumably there is a good story to be told, but there are many questions to be answered and a host of projects to be undertaken.
“Grant and Dave, and any officials they care to bring along, will be very welcome – so is everybody else.”
