SYMPATHY with the Norwegian people has been expressed by Northumberland County Council following the attacks by a gunman which left 77 people dead on July 22.
The county council has written letters to King Harald and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.
It has also opened a book of condolence at County Hall in Morpeth for people to sign.
Council leader Coun Jeff Reid said: I’m sure all of us feel the pain that the Norwegian people feel at the thought that killing people makes a political statement and somehow can justify it.
“The people of Northumberland have very close links with Norway.
“I can’t tell you how affected I have been by this.”
