A couple are looking forward to their retirement after finding their dream home.

Colin and Diane Douglas took advantage of Miller Homes’ part exchange scheme to leave their home of 31 years for a property on The Acres development in Bedlington.

The pair had spent two years looking for a new home, one with lower maintenance costs, and have now moved into a four-bedroom Esk property.

Colin said: “Our old home held so many fond memories as we lived there for such a long time, so when we began considering a move, we knew it was going to take something special for us to give that up.

“After searching for almost two years with little success, we visited The Acres and immediately knew it was the place we wanted to call home.

“We viewed the development’s showhome, The Esk, and loved the design of this house type. We spoke to the sales adviser Kayleigh, who was very helpful and talked us through the different options available to us.

“My favourite feature in our home is the kitchen/diner as it is very spacious and great for entertaining, especially when family and friends come to visit.

“We are already seeing the benefits of living in a new build home as it is very energy efficient and our maintenance costs are low.

“I also have more time to do the things I enjoy rather than having to spend time on continuous DIY jobs.

“We are so happy in our new home and would recommend Miller Homes to anyone looking for a new build.”

Andrew Somerville, regional sales manager at Miller Homes North East, added: “Colin and Diane were keen to find a home surrounded by the beautiful Northumberland countryside which they could enjoy during their retirement.

“I’m really pleased that our Acres development has offered them exactly what they were looking for.

“By taking advantage of our Part Exchange scheme, they were able to avoid any stress which comes with selling a property, as well as the security of knowing they could carry on living in their old home until their new Miller home was ready.”
