FIREFIGHTERS have spent several hours tackling a blaze at a power station.
Five fire engines and two aerial platforms were called to Lynemouth power station at 9.50pm on Thursday, August 23.
Crews battled the large fire, which was found in an electrical transformer, into the early hours of the morning, with the last crew believed to have left at 3am.
Police officers were also called to the scene and have now begun an investigation with officials from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service.
A police spokesperson said: “Police received information from the fire service about a fire ongoing at the power station at Park Road in Lynemouth.
“No-one was injured.
“Initial enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.”
