The attack took place at a property in College Road on Saturday, January, 14 when a man knocked on the door of the house and forced his way inside.

The woman reported the incident to police on Wednesday, January 18.

Ashington Neighbourhood Sergeant Mick Kelliher said: “This is an extremely unusual incident and obviously causes us some concern.

“I’d appeal to anyone who may have any idea who this man is, or who was in the area on Saturday evening and who may have witnessed anything, to come forward and help us with our enquiries.

“Although the woman wasn’t injured, she was left extremely shaken by what’s happened and it’s vital that we trace this man.”
