ILLEGAL cigarettes were seized in a raid on a house in Bedlington Station by customs officers and police.
Officers from Bedlington’s neighbourhood policing team carried out a search on Wednesday, April 13, after receiving a tip-off about its occupants dealing in counterfeit tobacco and cigarettes.
The team carried out the house search along with customs officers and found a quantity of illegally-imported tobacco.
One of the occupants was given a warning for possessing the illegal tobacco.
Neighbourhood sergeant David Morrison said: “This joint operation shows the public that if they speak to officers and pass information to us, it will be acted upon.
“We actively encourage the community to come forward and speak to us about their concerns, and we will try to do everything we can to address them and help make Bedlington a better, safer, place for us all to be.”
