Dog walker assaulted in Blyth

A WOMAN was assaulted while she was walking her dog in Blyth.

The 23-year-old woman was walking with her dog in Lilac Avenue at 11.45pm on Sunday, September 18, when she was approached from behind by a man.

The man assaulted the woman then ran off towards Laburnham Avenue.

The woman was left shaken by the assault but not injured.

The man is described as being in his early 20s, around 5ft 6ins tall and of stocky build.

He spoke with a local accent and was wearing dark bottoms and a dark fleece top.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone who was in the Lilac Avenue or Laburnham Avenue areas who may have seen anything or anyone suspicious to contact police on 03456 043 043 ext 69191.

They are also appealing for anyone in the area who has private CCTV systems to check the footage from around 11:45pm on Sunday and to contact police with any information.
