PEOPLE are being warned not to approach escaped prisoner Bernard Lee Sharkey who has links to Morpeth.

Sharkey failed to return to Kirklevington Prison in North Yorkshire following community work on Thursday, August 23.

The 34-year-old was serving an indeterminate sentence for threats to kill, affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was last seen at Newham Grange Farm in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, at 12.30pm.

Sharkey is described as five foot nine inches tall, with short cropped brown hair, blue eyes and of proportionate build.

He has a scar on the left hand side of his top lip and has a Celtic band tattoo on his upper left arm.

Sharkey was last seen wearing a red striped polo shirt and grey jogging bottoms.

Police say members of the public should not approach him but call 999 immediately if they see him.
