Journalist arrested in Northumberland

Officers from Scotland Yard have arrested a journalist at his Northumberland home this morning as part of Operation Elveden.

The 43-year-old is the 72nd to be arrested in the operation, which is the MPS inquiry into allegations of inappropriate payments to police and public officials. It is being supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission and is running in conjunction with Operation Weeting, the MPS phone-hacking inquiry.

He is a freelance journalist and was arrested at approximately 6.30am on Friday September 13 for suspected conspiracy to cause misconduct in public office contrary to The Criminal Law Act 1977.
