Man charged with attempted murder after Linton shooting

Police received a call just before 5.45am on Sunday, March 24, to Second Row, Linton, concerning a man who had been shot in the leg.

Officers attended and the 23-year-old man, who was treated at the scene by paramedics for pellet wounds to his leg, was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

Richard Hughes, 31, of Lynemouth, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a prohibited weapon.

A 19-year-old woman, 26-year-old man and 32-year-old man have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The police investigation into this incident is ongoing.
