Two men have been arrested in Stakeford after a series of burglaries since November.
Police carried out five warrants at two addresses in Riversdale House, and addresses in Harrington Gardens, Allgood Terrace and Saint Nicholas Close.
Two men, aged 32 and 37, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and a number of items, including a TV, vacuum cleaner and electrical equipment, which are suspected of being stolen, were seized after searches at the addresses.
Neighbourhood Inspector Grant Dawson said: “Our priority is making sure our communities are safer, not only is being broken into distressing for the victim but when it happens it causes an increase in the fear of crime among the local neighbourhood.
“I hope residents feel reassured we are taking action against those suspected of being responsible and will continue to do so.
“I would urge anyone concerned or wanting crime prevention advice to get in contact, either by speaking to an officer on patrol, ringing 101 or through the Northumbria Police website.”
The activity is part of Operation Soundwave which focuses on crimes like burglaries in the run up to Christmas.
