Residents warned to lock their doors

RESIDENTS are being urged to lock their doors even if they are in the house, following a burglary in Blyth.

A thief entered a house in Stanley Street and stole a number of jackets and bags from the hallway between 8.45pm and 9.05pm, before making off unseen.

The residents were in another part of the house while the burglary took place.

Blyth Neighbourhood Inspector Trevor Oakley said: “Even if you are in the house I’d advise to keep your front and back doors locked.

“Opportunist thieves are targeting homes where doors have been left unlocked and open.

“It only takes minutes for a thief to be in and out of your house.

“Lock your doors and help keep burglars out.”

Anyone with any information into the burglary is asked to contact police in Blyth on 03456 043 043 ext 69191.
