A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in a house in Cramlington.
Police were informed of the death of a woman inside a house at Byrness Row at 4.19am on Monday, April 29.
Officers and paramedics attended and the 52-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is helping police with enquiries.
Northumberland Chief Superintendent Dianne Winship said: “We understand that this incident may cause concern for the local community and I would like to reassure residents that there is no risk to members of the public.
“The incident has happened inside a property and those involved are believed to have been known to each other.
“Local officers are out and about in the community to offer reassurance and aid the investigation.”
