Cromwell’s words appropriate today

I AM currently reading a book by Sir Charles Firth about Oliver Cromwell and the English Civil War.

The following is attributed to Cromwell himself:

“... on the pride, ambition, and self seeking members of Parliament, their engrossing all places of honour and profit for themselves and their friends, their delays, their factions, their injustice, and their designs to perpetuate themselves in power.”

This was in 1652, so no change there then.

No wonder we have such rampant apathy for politics in this country, and I do not see any significant change in our politicians in my lifetime.

In great sadness.
