DISCO dancers from Blyth will be hoping to impress the judges with their moves when they take to the floor at a major national competition.

The four girls from Bede Academy in Blyth, are heading to Blackpool for the World Freestyle dancing contest.

Eylish Powell, 14, Dana Wilkinson, 15, and Abbie Davison, 11, were part of a winning squad from the Rainbow School of Dance in Blyth.

Also competing in Blackpool is Abbie Barclay, who has worked up to premier champ status in freestyle dancing, the highest level she can reach.

Abbie, 14, has been so successful that she now has a sponsor who provides her dance suits for solo competitions, which cost around £1,000 each.

Gwyneth Evans, Principal of Bede Academy, said: “All four girls are extremely dedicated to dancing and their commitment shows in the success they have enjoyed.

“We wish them well in Blackpool and hope they can bring back more trophies to add to their huge collections.”
