Dave Johnson joins the team, bringing with him several years of automotive industry experience.

Established by business partners Chris Luke and Thijs Ellis eight years ago, this company’s story has been one of continual success.
Backed by many years of combined experience, Ashington Cars and Commercials has grown enormously since its early days back in 2002.
Before starting their joint venture Chris had been the sales manager at the local Vauxhall dealership while Thijs had worked within the same dealership’s workshop, valeting and bodyshop operations.
Demand for cars and for servicing and repair work is always high.
It could be said that the company has been a victim of its success as Chris and Thijs have worked extremely hard to cover all angles of their business.
However, late last year they realised that to further develop the cars sales operation they would need an experienced manager to run the cars sales department.
Dave Johnson began working as a miner at the Ellington Colliery, at the time the largest undersea mining complex in Europe.
He is well-known and respected in the motor trade throughout the area, having started in the motor industry some years ago at the very same Vauxhall dealer where Chris and Thijs had been employed.
Before this, Dave had worked on the motoring section at the News Post Leader before ascending to the position of sales manager at the newspaper.
While he enjoyed his work there, Dave has always been on the lookout for new challenges, so when he was approached by Chris and Thijs to join their dealership he jumped at the chance to sell cars and vans directly to the public.
The firm started out with a handful of cars and over time this number has grown to around 50 high quality used cars and vans at any one time, and even the occasional caravan.
Today, ten people work for Ashington Cars and Commercials, which is a licensed credit broker offering a range of affordable finance products to purchasers.
All told, the team are able to provide more than 40 years combined motor trade experience.
Sales manager Dave said: “While we have about 50 vehicles displayed here at the dealership we actually have access to hundreds more, and these can be sourced through our trusted contacts within the trade in double quick time.
“In fact, if we haven’t got it we’ll get it, and at an enticing value for money price.
“While our stock always offers plenty of choice and we have a great range of different models from virtually all sectors of the market, we are able to source practically any car or van to order.
“All our vehicles are superbly prepared in-house by our highly skilled technicians and presented in first-class condition.”
All cars are carefully selected to preserve the quality of stock.
An HPI Vehicle History check is carried out on every car and extended 12, 24 or 36-month warranty cover is available.
Competitive insurance products and service plans are available too. All purchasers receive exemplary aftersales care through the modern and well-equipped workshop operation where servicing, maintenance and repairs are performed for all motorists on any make or model of vehicle.
In addition, there’s a state-of-the-art bodyshop with paint facilities too.
As testament to the high standards of work provided by the department, the bodyshop has managed to secure the contract to repair the local health authority’s fleet of vehicles.
