A Morpeth Lion is in position to take over one of the organisation’s top posts in the region.
David Wheeler was recently elected second vice-district governor, meaning he will take up the position of district governor in three years time.
He follows in the footsteps of former Morpeth Lion, the late George Bell, the only previous club member elected to the district’s highest position.
David only joined the Lions in 2008 and has already served as president and is currently in his second year as zone chairman.
Morpeth Lions club president Geoff Bushell said: “David has many years of management experience behind him.
“He has shown himself to be an innovative and forward thinking leader who has used his skills to inspire and enthuse others.”
At the district convention, David was presented with a District Governor’s Award in recognition of his contribution to the organisation’s progress.
