A disability support group is proving a hit with residents in Northumberland.
Choppington Disability Group, based at Stakeford and Bomarsund Welfare, was set up almost two years ago to offer advice, support and friendship.
It provides help with disability issues, as well as monthly meetings for members to enjoy a social cuppa and chat.
In addition to offering practical support, it aims to get people out of their homes and stop them from feeling isolated.
The group has developed links with other organisations and invites various agencies along to its sessions to give presentations and useful information.
Among those who have attended so far are Northumberland County Blind Association, Action On Hearing Loss and St John Ambulance.
There have also been discussions and presentations on hate crime, and the disability group is keen to help anyone experiencing such problems. They can contact the group directly, or there are reporting facilities at Stakeford and Bomarsund Welfare and Guide Post Medical Centre.
Local police community support officers also visit the group.
Anyone suffering from a disability in the Choppington area is welcome to get in touch by calling 01670 858664, or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
