Residents interested in a career in nursing are being reminded of two events due to take place.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is holding drop-in sessions at the new Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington on Thursday, August 13, between 5pm and 8pm, and on Saturday, August 15, from 10am to 1pm.

The trust is looking to recruit nurses in a number of areas to work at the new Northumbria hospital, at its general and community hospitals in Northumberland and North Tyneside and in community-based roles.

Qualified nurses looking for full or part-time posts and those looking for a more flexible working pattern by joining the trust’s staff bank are encouraged to attend.

At the sessions nurses will be able to talk to the matrons to find out more about the roles available and career opportunities.

Elaine Henderson, chief matron for medicine and emergency care at Northumbria Healthcare, said: “It has been an extremely successful couple of months for Northumbria Healthcare.

“Not only have we opened the country’s first purpose-built hospital dedicated to emergency care, we have been held up nationally by health secretary Jeremy Hunt as an organisation providing the best standard of seven-day services in the NHS.

“As an organisation, we truly value our nurses and the vital role they play in delivering compassionate front-line care for our patients.

“We have a number of opportunities for nurses to join us and help us deliver the highest standards of care for our patients whether that’s in an emergency situation in our new Northumbria hospital, on-going or planned care at our general or community hospitals or in the community.

“We would encourage nurses to come along to our new Northumbria hospital and meet the team to find out more - we look forward to seeing everyone there.”
