Pupils at Burnside Primary School enjoyed a Bollywood themed day.

Bollywood came to Burnside in an Indian cultural day for pupils.

Youngsters in Reception and Years 1 and 2 at Burnside Primary School in Cramlington dressed in traditional Indian costumes, tried a selection of food from the subcontinent and designed Mehndi patterns on paper hands, before being put through their paces by professional Bollywood dancers from GemArts in Gateshead.

The day culminated in a dance performance for the whole school.

Headteacher Jane Ramsay said: “At Burnside we wanted to offer both the children and staff the opportunity to learn something new and enhance their understanding of people and their respective cultures.

“We all had a fantastic day.”
