ASHINGTON High School students have proved they are a class act after achieving the best GCSE results in the history of the school.

For the fourth year in a row students have achieved the best results, with a GCSE pass rate of 78 per cent and 41 per cent including English and Maths.

Head teacher Rob Kitching said: “This is a fantastic achievement for our students, the school and our community.

“I am incredibly proud of the way the students have approached their exams and made every effort to achieve their personal targets.

“Their success is a result of hard work , the support of parents and the commitment and dedication of the staff.

“I look forward to welcoming many of them back into the sixth form in September.”
