A monster invasion has gripped a school thanks to pupils’ mask making talents.
Students from all age groups at Bedlingtonshire Community High School have been busy creating masks based on science fiction, fantasy or monsters, learning about how the characters seen in films and on television are formed.
The mask making club was led by design and technology technician Ray Phillips, a freelance sculptor and prop maker, who has 15 years’ experience of mask and costume making for television, stage, exhibitions, conventions and private collections across the UK, United States and Australia.
Pupils initially worked towards sculpting, casting and finishing a simple latex mask, based on their own design or a favourite character.
Later, those keen to progress moved onto a full over-the-head mask and two piece moulds.
