A SHOP had a blast from the past to mark its parent chain’s 30th birthday.
Staff and customers joined in the fun as Bonmarché at Manor Walks shopping centre in Cramlington the turned the clock back to the 1980s.
Dominating the singles chart at the time Bonmarché was founded in 1982 was Come on Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners, so shop staff invited anyone called Eileen to come on board and celebrate.
One of those to heed the call, Eileen Nicholson, 64, of Cramlington, got to cut its 30th birthday cake and was given a £30 gift voucher to spend in store as thanks.
Local radio station Koast Radio were on hand to broadcast a live show from the store.
Susan A’Court, assistant store manager, said: “We were so excited to be celebrating 30 successful years on the high street that we really wanted to involve our customers at our Manor Walks store and thank them for their loyalty.”
